Master of the Wind: Arc 6

September 7th, 2009 · Type: Rpg Maker Game

Fantastic writing, dungeons filled with puzzles, custom artwork and an overall epic free series that will take you an entire weekend to finish. The sixth game was released a couple weeks ago.

If you liked the previous episodes in the series (made using RMXP), you’ll love this one too. Drag your butts over to MasterOfTheWind.org to grab it and any of the older games you haven’t tried.

I’d rate the Master of the Wind series as a 5/5 and a must play. One of the best Rpg Maker XP games around, and definitely the awesomest starring an edit of Aluxes. Here’s their official description:

Cade Mistral and his best friend, a skeleton named “Bones”, work as armor merchants in the beautiful seaside town of Port Arianna. Unbeknownst to the townsfolk, Cade also protects them as the spear-wielding wind mage known as Shroud. Bones joins him as Stoic, a mighty undead warrior who has lived through roughly one thousand years of history.

The story begins with our heroes keeping their fellow citizens safe from smaller threats like robbers or the occasional vampire. However, when larger and more organized foes begin to descend on their humble home, our heroes realize they are in for more than they bargained for. They will have to make new friends, confront deadly foes, and travel all over the world to deliver justice once and for all.

Spoiler warning past this point in case anyone comments on this entry.

Deadly Sin - RPG game

June 29th, 2009 · Type: Rpg Maker Game

A treat today: Another new commercial roleplaying game has been released! It’s by harmonic, with fantastic artwork & animated battles shown below. Anyone from the Rpg Maker 2003 community would’ve heard of his last (highly rated) game: Legacies of Dondoran.

Visit the website to download a free demo & read the story.

As you can see, he uses highly customized systems! More screenshots of Deadly Sin are on the official website. Might be worth checking out to see those even if you’d never consider buying a RMVX game.

Aveyond 2: Ean’s Quest

Aveyond Logo Amaranth Games’ Aveyond 2 is the sequel to their past successful RMVX commercial game, titled Aveyond: Rhen’s Quest. It plays almost entirely like the original Rpg Maker XP RPG game, so if you didn’t like it, chances are you won’t enjoy the sequel either.

Snow has fallen on a magical vale where it has never snowed before. A beautiful young elf is missing, and no one remembers her existence. That is, no one except for her best friend, Ean.

Amaranth Games made the art & story in a more cutesy manner than they had in the original Aveyond. You play as Ean, an elf, searching for his lost friend, Iya, who was spirited away by the evil Snow Queen. You’ll quickly stumble upon a plot to freeze the entire world and escape through her castle’s sewers towards your ultimate destiny.

Aveyond

Aveyond Logo Amaranth Games’ Aveyond is a commercial Rpg Maker game you’ve probably already heard of. It was made in RMXP, and finished as soon as Enterbrain’s english release.

Aveyond has gotten quite a bit of reputation in the Rpg Maker community - mostly undeserved - as being a game that didn’t try to be anything more than a cookie cutter RPG and reused RTP content.

Most people assume the graphics are entirely RTP, however the creator spent thousands on creating original tilesets for Aveyond. The music is also completely original and has won many awards. Aveyond is a 10-50 hour long, fun roleplaying game that was a huge commercial success. Try the demo out if you haven’t already!

Eternal Eden

Blossomsoft’s Eternal Eden is a classic RPG in the style of super nintendo games. It was the first commercial Rpg Maker VX game. I’ve played this from start to finish (around 20 hours playtime) and it’s quite charming. Eternal Eden got a 9/10 review on RPG Fan, their reviewer said: “I have played many independently developed RPGs over the years and Eternal Eden is my favorite by far.”

If you hate the RTP content and setup of RMVX, Eternal Eden isn’t the game for you! Eternal Eden embraced it and was created as a game/story that matches the mood they set. Dungeons have visible monsters and puzzles to advance in them, similar to Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinastrals, instead of empty Final Fantasy styled caverns with random combats. Blossomsoft’s Eternal Eden game has also been a big hit with the fans of Amaranth Games’ Aveyond series.
