Strangest thing you’ve done in RPG Maker?

I think we might have a winner! You’ve seen Hima’s shooters, and Anaryu’s games. Maybe even that person who took Irrlight to pretend to make Rpg Maker XP 3d. Sandgolem took it to another level by turning Rpg Maker XP (not VX sadly) into a fake 3D system for the lofi RPG contest at RPGDX.net.

Ever played the Bard’s Tale series (not the more recent), or any of SSI’s gold box games? Those were a really popular Dungeons & Dragons old computer game series. Sandgolem ported over their way of drawing maps to RMXP. (more…)

Action Game Maker trial released

No new resources today, we’re busy - going to be playing with this! Enterbrain’s japanese Famitsu site has been updated with a surprise Action Game Maker trial program. You can download it here.

Requires: DirectX 9.0c, .NET Framework 2.0 SP1.

It will try to connect to the internet. The Action game maker trial by Enterbrain enforces the following limitations: 20 canvases, 100 gadgets, limited amount of readable data (text?), limited saves.

New images, background music/BGM, and sound effects cannot be added to the AGM trial. (more…)

Action game maker sample games

Enterbrain has released some sample games from their upcoming maker product, Action Game Maker (AGM). AGM comes with three “kasual kit” type of games it will be able to make out of the box: Adventure/Action RPG (think Zelda: Link to the Past), Platformer (think Super Mario World), and Shooter (think Gradius).

While it’s not yet clear how constrained those types of games have to be, they’ve released some samples you can play. Visit Enterbrain’s action game maker website for more - in japanese, of course. (more…)
