Player research results

Solstice found a great thread worth mentioning on phanxgames. It’s about a “Research Dungeon” project by Dustin, with results of 14 players going through it and how they acted when given decisions.

We’ve had similar results with some of the focus testing we did earlier for an in-development commercial game. Here’s a few of the more interesting research results, and the rest at the bottom topic:

  • Few talked to the first NPC a second time.
  • Most didn’t try interacting with a decorative object.
  • None tried looking at a chest they opened again.
  • Almost all tried walking into dead ends.
  • Most turned around to go back for a chest they saw.
  • Almost none of the players wanted to escape the battles.

    surprised people didnt run. I run all the time with random battles
