Frost Elemental

November 2nd, 2009 · Type: Rpg Maker Battle

A small wisp who can channel wintry energies and throw them around the battlefield. They’re not much to look at, but sure packs a punch if you ignore them! Works best in games if you use several of them during the same combat scene, or as support creatures. These had terrorized the dwarven village in the Might of the Mana Eggs RMVX game.

Slime Hand

November 2nd, 2009 · Type: Rpg Maker Battle

A large, slimy slapper that grows out of a sticky pool beneath from Might of the Mana Eggs. It mainly used physical damage to attack the enemy (you), unlike the rest of the slimes who could channel mana just like the gumdrop elemental spirits. This hand was intentionally a bit badly drawn, to give it a bit of a slimy look. I don’t think it came out just right but times was of the essence with the contest game… all of the Rpg Maker battlers had to be done in around 15 minutes or less.

This VX monster was inspired by a toy I remembered as a kid. They were in the 25 cent vending machines… little sticky arms you could stretch out and attach to things or grab them with. I had a lot of fun with those!

Chaos Seed

November 2nd, 2009 · Type: Rpg Maker Battle

This small orb-like creature graphic was used for the final boss battle in “Might of the Mana Eggs”. They shifted colors and abilities every turn. More chaos seeds would spawn as the combat went on, either supporting the Glacial Doom Rock or doing damage to the players. Some of these battlers even stole almost all of your RMVX characters’ mana points!

They were also in a “rejected boss battle”… a large group of them using all of the player character skills against them. I got a lot of feedback that they were way too mean for such a cute little game monster. :)

Gremlin creature for RMVX

November 2nd, 2009 · Type: Rpg Maker Battle

Here’s a little monster I used for the starting dungeon in a contest game. They came in several varieties… regular, warriors, and wizards. Those were mostly just hue changes though. The arms not being directly connected beneath the neck was intentional. These gremlin creatures are meant to look a bit weird! :)

Master of the Wind: Arc 6

September 7th, 2009 · Type: Rpg Maker Game

Fantastic writing, dungeons filled with puzzles, custom artwork and an overall epic free series that will take you an entire weekend to finish. The sixth game was released a couple weeks ago.

If you liked the previous episodes in the series (made using RMXP), you’ll love this one too. Drag your butts over to MasterOfTheWind.org to grab it and any of the older games you haven’t tried.

I’d rate the Master of the Wind series as a 5/5 and a must play. One of the best Rpg Maker XP games around, and definitely the awesomest starring an edit of Aluxes. Here’s their official description:

Cade Mistral and his best friend, a skeleton named “Bones”, work as armor merchants in the beautiful seaside town of Port Arianna. Unbeknownst to the townsfolk, Cade also protects them as the spear-wielding wind mage known as Shroud. Bones joins him as Stoic, a mighty undead warrior who has lived through roughly one thousand years of history.

The story begins with our heroes keeping their fellow citizens safe from smaller threats like robbers or the occasional vampire. However, when larger and more organized foes begin to descend on their humble home, our heroes realize they are in for more than they bargained for. They will have to make new friends, confront deadly foes, and travel all over the world to deliver justice once and for all.

Spoiler warning past this point in case anyone comments on this entry.
