Have you seen a resource battle game made with this program yet? Some of us have been secretly working on one for a few weeks. It’s almost done! There’s a huge single player adventure with over 100 scenarios and cutscenes between each. Players can choose one of four element types (gold, life, shadow, sorcery), picking which effects, items and units they’d like to use. Over a thousand abilities are available with tons of combos.

Unlike most of the stuff we post about or resources from, we’ll also be making the end result public in the communty. It’s a commercial game that will be released by our lil company. So those of you who really, really hate those make sure not to click on it! :)

Check back within a week assuming no strange RMVX beta playtesting errors. Don’t forget about the sidescrolling RPG competition either!

Need a new sidequest plot? Stuck looking at a dungeon and wondering how you’ll make the players have to go there? Don’t settle for just sticking a fedex quest in! One of the article columns on the Dungeons & Dragons website has plenty of rpg story ideas they’ll let you steal.

It’s called steal this hook, with over 30 articles. They were published monthly over a couple years and each is filled with interesting ideas. Here’s a few from there to get your brain wet:

• A blackguard constructs a massive chessboard in his lair, and then he collects prisoners to act as his living chess pieces.

• A bard appears out of thin air, wounded, in the center of a small town. He claims to have been transported from a brutal land full of vicious monsters. He asks for help before he is transported back again.
• A cultist secretly charms a local gang leader. He changes the gang’s agenda from general vandalism and theft to one of kidnapping and secret rituals.

It’s a 48 hour competition next weekend (august 15-16th). You can use any engine or tool you’d like, including RPG maker, and probably also including the older versions of the program. Make a post over there if you’re interested in joining the competition!

The last competition rpgDX ran spawned the neato Linear RPG game. You basically walk in a line until the next point in the story, gaining experience/damage as you walk around. Surprisingly addictive!

There are no prizes other than bragging rights. And you’ll also have to compete against us, the folks running this Rpg Maker VX blog. Luckily for you though… our game will probably suck! :D
