RGSS2 Script directory
We’re still hard at work with other things, but in the meantime, here’s a small treat for Rpg Maker users. The gamebaker team (which I was a member of) re-uploaded one of the older backups of the GameBaker site’s script files. If you happen to use RMVX, or even RMXP (link), there’s bound to be something useful there. Many of them don’t have instructions yet unfortunately.
Here’s some we put into almost every project we made & would happily recommend to everyone. The uploaded versions may have a couple bug fixes or improvements omitted that were later posted:
- Anti-Event Lag
Gives the largest boost to FPS out of all the anti-lag systems we tested, and is also used in 3 commercial games in-progress. There are minor issues with this one. - Automated Data Backups
This is a counter to the “Unexpected file format” error. A copy of your /data directory will be made every time you playtest the game. - RMVX Playtesting Tools
Options you can activate while playtesting your game. Map transfers, FPS boosts, auto-start, debug maps, etc.
Click more to see some of our favorites. They aren’t for every project, we just liked them enough to give them a mention.
- Magica’s battle status menus. These change the status window to include character faces. There are two very different versions of the scripts: One for facesets, and another for the characterset’s face. These were the most popular of the RMVX scripts on GameBaker.
- Magica’s Event Pushing. EP is much more fun in our Script Demo than it looks on the page. Walking into events of your choice enough times will push them out your player’s way. Works great for the useless NPCs who walk around the map and block corridors!
- Sandgolem’s Fight after Failed Run. Makes random battles a bit less annoying by letting you fight if you can’t run away.
- Magica’s Vehicle Map. Press a button as you’re travelling inside a vehicle, and you’ll be taken to a special “inside” map instead.
There are a couple others we’d recommend, but they don’t seem to be in the files we had uploaded. I’ll make a second post like this in the near-future. I hope there’s at least one thing on the page that everyone will find useful. Happy RMVXing!
